The installer is unable to program the bypass kit's onboard transponder into the vehicle's BCM (Body Control Module). In the majorority of these cases the remote starter timing is not fast enough to enable the vehicle's ignition and the bypass kit's transponder output so the vehicle's BCM times-out in the middle of the installation programming procedure. The PASSLOCK-SL will program properly but the vehicle will not start. Midway through 2005 production GM introduced a change in the 2005 Pontiac Pursuits' anti-theft system. The newer system uses a Passkey III (PK3) on top of the previous Passlock II system. Have a look at the stamp near the top of the metal shaft on the key. If the key is stamped with + then the vehicle is equipped with Passlock II and Passkey III (PK3) you will need to use the PATS-GM-2.

The bypass kit will not program while the data portion (if applicable) may work on some vehicles. The internal transponder on these bypasskits can only be programmed once. When they are programmed into the vehicles' control module they are slightly modified and cannot be used again. Some distributors were unaware of this, and there have been a few reports where there have been some used bypass kits recirculated back to our customers.
