Can I update the firmware on my Bypass module? Not all Fortin Bypass modules are updatable by Internet. If the Bypass module has a bar-code with a 12-character serial number on its sticker the preloaded firmware can be updated by Internet. Why should I update the firmware on my Bypass module? What is data-link? Data-link is a high speed data communication link used between more than one after-market electronic device. These devices include remote-starters, alarm systems, GPS and telematics devices, and immobilizer bypass or interface module(s). By default the Compustar, Arctic Start and NU-Start remote-start/alarm modules are not programmed out of the box to communicate with the Fortin 2-way data-link protocol. The UltraStart will send a very brief crank signal but immediately shuts down. When the UltraStart is used with the EVO-CHR the crank signal duration is not long enough to effectively start the vehicle, so the vehicle will not appear to be getting a crank signal at all. The UltraStart remote-car-starter needs a solid ground on the foot-brake input in order to remote-start. This only applies to the EVO-CHR when using the THAR-CHR2 T-harness on non TIP-Start vehicles. The security light will come on when the vehicle is remote-started and will remain on after a key-takeover and the remote-starter is shut-down. The security light with either flash or come on solid (depending on the vehicle). The factory alarm is triggered when the vehicle is remote-started when using an EVO-CHR. The EVO-CHR was programmed without indicating that the vehicle has a factory alarm and will not disarm the factory alarm during remote-start. This will cause the factory alarm to trigger as soon as it is remote-started. Unplug the module and reprogram it starting from programming step 1. The vehicle is equipped with keyless entry, but the door locks do not function with the remote-starter. The EVO-CHR did not detect the factory key-fob during step 9 of the programming sequence. This FAQ applies to the EVO-CHR and THAR-CHR2 with the 2005-2007 Jeep Cherokee and 2007 Jeep Compass. Other vehicles using the EVO-CHR and THAR-CHR2 may be affected. The factory alarm triggers when remote-starting and the unlock-before/relock-after remote-start programming option has been enabled on the remote-starter programming options - but unlock/relock does not work.
