When the vehicles PK3 (Passkey III) passive anti-theft system light remains lit on the vehicles cluster indefinately after the remote starter starts the vehicle. The passkey III module is not located at the key cylinder. The bypass kit is probably installed utilizing the incorrect security wires. Consult the following instructions (depending on the vehicle) which differs from the instructions provided in the GMDAA and GMDAAF installation manual. Cadillac Only: Locate the PK3 anti-theft system module...
The security light stays on after the vehicle has sucessfully remote-started, and after the key is inserted and turned to the on position. The OEM PK3 transponder module is communicating synchronously with the GM SL on the vehicles databus. Use the GM SL's connector 2, and interrupt the vehicle's PK3 ignition wire (pink, yellow, or white) with the GM SL's pink and pink/black. See the installation diagram for more information.
The factory alarm is being triggered when the vehicle is being remote started. On some remote-starters the parklight output is sent before the (-) disarm, or the (-) while running. On some newer GM vehicles the OEM alarm will trigger if the parklights are activated through data. If the OEM alarms is being triggered (while armed) during remote-start, the parklight wire from the remote-starter should be hooked up to the vehicle directly, instead of using the GM SL to activate the parklights through data.
The bypass kit's LED comes on after inserting the harness but the LED will not flash once the vehicle's ignition is turned on. Either an older version of GM-SL is beign used, or the ignition was not left on long enough. Ensure that the GM-SL is at least version 3.4 (3.3 does not program on older GM vehicles). While holding the button, turn the ignition on and wait for at least 15 seconds for the bypass kit to detect the vehicle. The LED may take up to 15-20 seconds before it begins to flash.
