14 Apr 2005 Programming LED does not turn on.

The data bypass kit's LED does not turn on when the module is plugged in. The bypass kit is unable to power up. Either there is no power (+12vDC) on the red wire, or no ground (0vDC) on the black wire. Measure the voltage across these terminals and ensure the unit is getting 12vDC when the vehicle is idle, during crank and running with the key.

14 Apr 2005 Programming LED remains on.

The data bypass kit's LED remains on when programming and never goes out. The bypass kits output data wire wire is not connected to pin #2 of the vehicles OBDII connector (violet) under the dash, or the bypass kits ground-out-while-running input wire is always at ground even when the remote-starter is shut down. If the battery of the vehicle is disconnected or drops below 3vDC the bypass kit will lock itself and once the battery is reconnected the vehicle will need to be started with the key at least o...

14 Apr 2005 Horn honks with lock/unlock.

The vehicle's horn honks everytime the remote-starter or aftermarket alarm sends a lock and/or unlock pulse to the bypass kit. (A) The bypass kit is receiving a double-lock or double-unlock pulse from the remote-starter or after-market alarm. (B) The remote-starters unlock & disarm or lock & rearm wires are connected together to the bypass kit which will cause the bypass kit to receive a double-lock and/or double-unlock pulse depending on the timing of the remote-starters outputs. (A) Reprogram the rem...

14 Apr 2005 Vehicles battery is getting drained.

The vehicles battery is constantly being drained when the vehicle sits for a long period of time. The bypass kits ground-out-while-running is receiving a either a constant ground or being pulsed even when the remote starter is not activated. (A) The remote-starters ground-out-while-running is being used to activate a second ignition relay and is being shared with the bypass kit. Depending on how the relay is wired the ground out while running may bleed current through the coil of the relay to ground an...

14 Apr 2005 Dome light turns on when the key is inserted. (GM)

The dome light turns on when the driver inserts the key and steps on the brake pedal. This happens because the bypass kit is instructing the vehicle to disable the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) by sending a door open signal to the BCM (Body Control Module). This signal is sent when the bypass kit receives the falling edge of the ground-out-while-running signal from the remote starter. This symptom is normal and should be ignored because the unit is functioning properly. Without this feature the radio...

14 Apr 2005 Panic mode not functioning properly.

When an auxiliary output of the remote-starter of after-market alarm is connected to the panic input of the data bypass kit the panic does not work as expected. The remote-starter or after-market alarm auxiliary output is sending either a constant ground output, or more commonly a constant repeating pulsed output. The bypass kit panic input requires a single ground pulse to enable the panic mode, and a single ground pulse to disable the panic mode. If the remote-starter or aftermarket alarm does not ut...

6 May 2005 Door lock and/or unlock does not work.

The bypass kit is unable to lock and/or unlock the vehicle. The connected remote-starter or alarm does not have a perfect ground on the lock/unlock signal. Some modules have short-circuit protection by using either an internal diode, transistor, or resistor which prevents the lock/unlock output pulse from having a ground that is at a low enough potential for the bypass kits' input to recognize. Try grounding the bypass kits' lock/unlock input manually to chassis ground. If the locks function properly t...

17 Oct 2005 Door lock and/or unlock works intermittently, or only with one door.

The bypass kit is unable to lock and/or unlock the vehicle door's, or works intermittently, or one or more doors do not function. The vehicles horn causes interfere with the data communication. If the remote-starter or alarm is connected to the vehicles horn (non-data), remove the connection.
