Vehicle shuts down shortly after remote start with INT-SL using 2-way data-link.

This article only applies to remote car starters connected with the INT-SL in 2-way data-link mode.

Symptom

The remote car starter is shutting down shortly after it remote starts the vehicle and is giving a brake-status shut-down code.

Cause

The INT-SL is detecting a false-positive status of the foot-brake and transmitting this status to the remote car starter shortly after the vehicle remote starts.

Solution

Choose from one of the following:

Method A: (recommended)
1. Update the firmware on the INT-SL to a minimum version of 3.01 and re-program the module. If this version is already in use there is no need to re-program the module.
2. Connect the green wire of the INT-SL to constant ground.
3. Connect the remote car starters brake status wire directly to the 12VDC foot-brake output of the vehicle.

Method B:
1. Change the connection type to non-data-link mode.
1.1 Cut the Rx and Tx wires of the 2-way data-link cable between the INT-SL and the remote car starter.
1.2. Connect the Lock, Unlock, Trunk and Ground-out-while-running input wires from the INT-SL directly to the outputs from the remote car starter.
1.3. Connect the parking-light output, tachometer input and foot-brake input wires from the remote car starter directly to the vehicle.
2. Connect the remote-car-starters foot-brake status wire directly to the 12VDC foot-brake output of the vehicle.
3. Reprogram the INT-SL.
