Bypass kit programs but will not start 2005 Pontiac G5 Pursuit

Symptom

The PASSLOCK-SL will program properly but the vehicle will not start.

Cause

Midway through 2005 production GM introduced a change in the 2005 Pontiac Pursuits' anti-theft system. The newer system uses a Passkey III (PK3) on top of the previous Passlock II system.

Solution

Have a look at the stamp near the top of the metal shaft on the key.



If the key is stamped with + then the vehicle is equipped with Passlock II and Passkey III (PK3) you will need to use the PATS-GM-2.
