Programming LED remains on.

Symptom

The data bypass kit's LED remains on when programming and never goes out.

Cause

The bypass kits output data wire wire is not connected to pin #2 of the vehicles OBDII connector (violet) under the dash, or the bypass kits ground-out-while-running input wire is always at ground even when the remote-starter is shut down. If the battery of the vehicle is disconnected or drops below 3vDC the bypass kit will lock itself and once the battery is reconnected the vehicle will need to be started with the key at least once in order for the bypass kit to unlock. This problem is more common on bypass kits manufactured before September 2004.

Solution

Ensure that the bypass kits output data wire is connected to Pin#2 (violet) of the OBDII connector. Ensure with a multimeter that the ground-out-while-running is not at ground (open-circuit) when the remote starter is not running. If the battery was removed simply start the vehicle with a valid key once in order for the bypass kit to re-self learn the bypass code.
