KEY-OVERRIDE Installation Supplement
This is an installation supplement for the KEY-OVERRIDE-SL, KEY-OVERRIDE-SL2 and the KEY-OVERRIDE ALL. It describes how to locate the required Data, Syncro, Security LED, Rx (receive) or Tx (transmit) wires at the vehicles PATS connector.
In some cases the colors of both of these wires differ and they may even differ between the same year of a specific vehicle. Because of this difference wire colors may not be listed and method 5 (below) may need to be used to determine the location of the wires in the PATS harness.
1. Refer to the individual connection types in the generic installation manual. Wire colors are listed in some sections for specific connection types for most vehicles. If the vehicle is not listed or the wire color does not match the ones listed then continue below.
2. Refer to the vehicle specific installation guides provided in the files section of the KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL. There are currently more than 250 separate installation guides which cover most of the vehicles covered by the KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL. If a specific installation guide is not provided for this vehicle then continue below.
3. For older vehicles refer to the attached PDF for a list of vehicle wire colors. If the vehicle is a newer model or is not listed in the attached PDF then continue below.
4. For newer vehicles refer to the vehicle wiring and photographs. You will need an activation key to unlock the vehicle wiring. Activation keys are packaged with the KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL and are not sold separately. If you do not have an activation key, or the vehicle wiring does not list the wire colors then continue below.
5. Refer to the individual connection types in the generic installation manual. The connector is displayed with its respective pin-out. Always use a computer safe test-light, logic-probe, or multi-meter to test any of the following connections.
A. Ford / Mazda / Lincoln / Mercury: Determine which pin from the 4-pin plug is Ignition. Once ignition is found the Rx and Tx wires can be determined from the remaining pins. Refer to the individual connection types for pin-outs of the connector for the specific vehicle.
B. Toyota / Lexus without SmartKey: Determine which wire from the 7-pin plug is empty. Pin 3 is always empty in the plug. Once the empty pin (pin 3) is located the Rx wire (pin 4) and Tx wire (pin 5) can be determined from the remaining pins.
C. Toyota / Lexus with SmartKey: Determine which wire from the 14-pin plug is at ground when the push-button (start/stop) is pressed. The start/stop wire is always at pin 7 of the plug. Once start/stop (pin 7) is found the Rx wire (pin 10) and Tx wire (pin 9) can be determined from the remaining pins.
D. Honda / Acura 5-pin: Determine which wire from the 5-pin plug is ignition. The ignition wire is always at pin 1 of the plug. Once ignition (pin 1) is found the Data wire (pin 2) and Syncro wire (pin 3) can be determined from the remaining pins.
E. Honda / Acura old 7-pin: Determine which wires from the 7-pin plug is ignition. The ignition wire is always at pin 2 of the plug. This can be verified by cutting the security light wire at pin 3 and starting the vehicle with the key. Once ignition (pin 2) is found and the security light (pin 3) is found the Data wire (pin 6) can be determined from the remaining pins.
F. Honda / Acura new 7-pin: Determine which wire from the 7-pin plug is ignition. The ignition wire is always at pin 2 of the plug. Once ignition (pin 2) is found the Data wire (pin 3) can be determined from the remaining pins.
G. 2008-2009 Honda Accord: Determine which wire from the 7-pin plug is ignition. The ignition wire is always at pin 2 of the plug. Once ignition (pin 2) is found the Data wire (pin 6) can be determined from the remaining pins.
H. Nissan / Infiniti 6-pin: Determine which wire from the 6 pin plug is ignition. The ignition wire is always at pin 2 of the plug. Once ignition (pin 2) is found the Data wire (pin 6) and security LED (pin 3) can be determined from the remaining pins.
I. Nissan / Infiniti 8-pin: Determine which wire from the 8 pin plug is ignition. The ignition wire is always at pin 2 of the plug. Once ignition (pin 2) is found the Data wire (pin 8) and security LED (pin 4) can be determined from the remaining pins.
