Vehicle fails to remote-start after resting for several minutes.
Symptom
After the vehicle has been sitting parked for several minutes the remote-starter appears to be functional but the transponder bypass module fails to bypass the passive anti theft system at the key and the vehicle fails to remote-start.
The PATS light in the cluster will turn on while the remote-starter attempts to start the vehicle. In some cases the starter may turn over but the fuel pump will be cut off. In other cases the vehicle will not crank at all.
Cause
The vehicle has been sitting long enough for it to go in to sleep mode and the vehicles transponder passive anti theft system is not functional. When the vehicle is sleeping the PATS system does is not active and the Fortin bypass module is unable to read the proper signals needed for it to bypass the vehicles passive anti theft system upon remote-start.
In most cases the key sense wire needs to triggered in order to wake up the passive anti theft system. This can be verified by either inserting and removing the key, or manually grounding the key-sense wire before remote-starting.
Solution
Connect the transponder bypass modules key sense wire to the key sense at the ignition barrel. If the bypass module does not have a key sense output use the remote-starters pulse before or disarm output. It takes a short amount of time for the passive anti theft system to wake up so a pulse during starter crank will be too late, hence the need for a "pulse before".
Note: Be sure to test the vehicles key sense wire for polarity. Some vehicles have a positive key sense, therefore a relay might be required to invert the signal.
