CAN-SL2 will program but vehicle will not remote-start (Configuration 15-16)
The support article applies to remote car starter installations with a CAN-SL2 on a General Motors vehicle using installation configuration 15 or 16.
Symptom
The CAN-SL2 will program but the remote car starter will fail to start the vehicle.
Cause
The Ignition and Accessory wire are connected to the incorrect wires at the BCM connector. There are several wires at the BCM connector that have the same color as the Ignition and Accessory wires and the incorrect wire is used to connect the Ignition and Accessory outputs from the remote car starter.
Solution
Preferred method: Disconnect the remote car starters Ignition and Accessory output from the BCM connector and connect them directly to the 6-pin plug at the ignition switch. Use a multimeter or computer safe test light to verify the correct Ignition and Accessory wires and connect the remote car starter connections accordingly.
Alternative method: Test all the wires at the BCM connector with a multimeter or computer safe test light that have the same color as the Ignition and Accessory wires. Verify which of these wires are the correct Ignition and Accessory wires and connect the remote car starter connections accordingly.
