Dome light turns on when the key is inserted. (GM)

Symptom

The dome light turns on when the driver inserts the key and steps on the brake pedal.

Cause

This happens because the bypass kit is instructing the vehicle to disable the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) by sending a door open signal to the BCM (Body Control Module). This signal is sent when the bypass kit receives the falling edge of the ground-out-while-running signal from the remote starter.

Solution

This symptom is normal and should be ignored because the unit is functioning properly. Without this feature the radio would remain on for at least 10 minutes after the remote-starter shuts down and could potentially drain the vehicles battery in the process.
